Notes from the autumn table

Autumn changes the rhythm of the workshop. The days grow shorter, dried flowers gather along the windowsills, and the worktable fills with bones, fallen wood, old frames, metal, and half-formed ideas waiting to reveal themselves.

This season, we have been creating framed botanicals, wands, woodland relics, and pieces made from specimens gathered and prepared throughout the warmer months. Some begin with a clear design. Others change completely beneath our hands. We allow room for both.

Every Curio & Crow piece is made individually, so once one leaves the shop, it may never appear in quite the same form again. Custom work follows that same spirit. We can begin with a certain material, size, purpose, or feeling—but the natural character of the piece always has a voice in what it becomes.

Autumn reminds us that endings are not emptiness. They are transformation: a season of gathering, preserving, and finding beauty in what remains.
